Untameable Futures: Contribute to u+’s 2026 meeting!

2026.05.17

This year, on October 21-22, u+ wants to turn its Members Meeting into an (online) experience, co-produced with all of you. Let us gather and share the amazing creativity, intelligence, resourcefulness and… plurality that makes us who we are as a network. Let us celebrate…

Untameable Futures

The future seems to have broken out of every possible boundary.
Children and teenagers do new stuff with futures literacy;
Stale dystopias become realities;
The futures cone takes all kinds of alternative shapes;
Decolonial futures pluralize futures and challenge the role of futurists;
Artists and others invent new roles for futures, disconnected from decision-making;
[add here your own boundary-breaking uses of the future]

Being the Plurality University Network, we find this situation stimulating rather than problematic. And so, during this year’s Members’ Meeting [October 19-20, 2026], we’d like to celebrate (and challenge) these untameable futures with you!

At this stage, we’re calling upon our members and friends to submit or suggest ideas, projects and persons that resonate with the “Untameable Futures” intuition: what is the value of working on the future when it isn’t about reducing uncertainty or even making better decisions? How can we nurture the future’s plurality, unpredictability, and openness?

We’re looking for (all sessions will happen online and last 60 to 90 minutes):

  • Untameable Voices: A small number of inspirational talks/classes/performances
  • Untameable Words: Emerging concepts to liberate futures
  • Untameabling experiences: Experimental workshops, tools, games, etc.
  • Untaming sessions: Open creative moments, facilitated by an artist or designer…

Interested? Intrigued but unsure? Just write to us!
