Imagining the Futures of Social & Environmental Dialogue

(this project is in French)

On March 19, 2026, beneath the old stones of the Marseilles’ Citadel and the vaulted halls of the Palais du Pharo, eleven writers worked with the 120 participants of the “Social and Environmental Dialogue” pathway of the Convention des Entreprises pour le Climat (CEC). These participants came from 38 organisations, and their representatives were split evenly between HR functions and employee representatives.

The CEC team took the bold step of partnering with u+ to offer participants a two-part “speculative foresight” process:

  • On March 19, the writers, most of whom are close to science fiction or fantasy, helped participants unleash their imagination, invent “regenerative” companies of 2050, and describe the social dialogue that goes with them.
  • Two months later, participants took up their own fictions to draw out, this time, avenues for action in the form of “ingredients” for tomorrow’s social dialogue, some of which could be tried out right now.

What follows is the result of this collective work. After describing the methodology used over these two days, the report offers a synthesis of the 53 ingredients described by the participants, along with a reading “from the inside” by Ingrid Kandelman, who designed and led the whole CEC process.
